Preserve Quality Healthcare in California: Vote "No" on Proposition 45

I rarely express my political views; however, the potential devastating impact Proposition 45 would have on every Californian justifies this exception.  

This initiative gives one politician – the California Insurance Commissioner - sweeping new authority over healthcare, including rates, co-pays, deductibles and even what health insurance covers.  That’s too much power for one person and would destroy health care in California as we know it.  Don’t just take my word for it.  The California Chamber of Commerce, the Sacramento Bee, L.A. Times, San Francisco Chronical - the Small Business Majority and many, many more who have read the fine print of this initiative -  also urge a “No” Vote on Proposition 45.

California Senate Bill 562 is Seeking to Abolish Private Health Insurance, Covered California and Medicare - Urge Your Elected Representative To Oppose

California has just completed another successful open enrollment season and the percentages of those who are uninsured have dropped to 7.1% - a record low in our state. As a health insurance professional in California, I understand the importance of quality health care coverage and affordability of that coverage.  That is why I'm compelled to write this blog entry. How to Obtain Medications Not Covered By Your Medicare Drug Plan

When choosing a Medicare Part D Drug Plan (usually during the annual Open Enrollment Period and between October 15th – December 7th) most do so based on their current medications.  Frequently, however, over the course of the plan year medications are added or dropped.  Consequently, a plan that once covered each of your medications may not later.  Are you then stuck until the next Open Enrollment Period?  Not necessary.  Initially, the simplest approach may be to ask your doctor to prescribe another medication.
